Vulnerable person on railway track in Fratton brings all trains to 'standstill' following trespasser incident

Southern Rail reported a ‘trespass incident’ on the tracks between Portsmouth Harbour and Chichester had meant the operator was ‘unable to run between these stations’ earlier this morning from around 10am.
‘A trespasser was reported to be on the tracks in the Fratton area earlier today, causing all trains in the area to come to a stand. The incident has now been dealt with and all lines are open. Staff are working to return the service to the scheduled timetable,’ a statement from the company said.

Hide Ad‘Trains between Havant, Fareham and Portsmouth, and Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour, are returning to normal. Trains may be delayed or cancelled until approximately 1pm.’
It was also confirmed the person had been rescued by emergency crews.
‘Emergency services have confirmed the person is safe, and trains are going to be able to run through the area at normal speed again very shortly,’ Southern Rail posted on Twitter.
