Danny Cowley has allayed Pompey fears over the injury to Marlon Pack.

The Blues boss is adamant that his hamstring issue isn’t significant and could make a return to the side against Oxford United on Tuesday.

Following the midfielder’s dismissal in their 3-0 defeat to Charlton on Monday, the head coach revealed the 31-year-old sustained the problem during the tie.

Pack was later sent for scans to determine the extent of the injury, along with Michael Jacobs who suffered a similar fate.

The ex-Cardiff man automatically missed Pompey’s 1-0 victory over Forest Green on Saturday after being given a one-match ban following his red card at The Valley.

This saw the Buckland-boy watch from the stands as Sean Raggett’s first-half header ensured the Blues got back to winning ways after a four game winless run.

But the head coach has insisted Pack’s hamstring problem isn’t a major concern and is hopeful of a return to the side when Pompey face Oxford United at Fratton Park on Tuesday.

He told The News: ‘We’re hoping he’ll be back because we need him.

‘He had a bit of tightness in his hamstring but we don’t believe it to be significant.’
