BBC's Sky at Night expert to give talk at Hampshire Astronomical Group

BINOCULAR astronomy expert Steve Tonkin will be giving the next talk for Hampshire Astronomical Group.

A Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society Dark Skies Adviser, broadcaster, author and public outreach teacher, Steve is well-known for his ‘Binocular Tour’ for BBC TV’s long-running Sky at Night programme

and his monthly column in the Sky at Night Magazine.

In the talk, Two Eyes are Better than One: Binocular Astronomy, he will tell how, depending on the object being observed, binocular views can often surpass the view from telescopes.

Steve will also discuss the different types of binoculars and the pitfalls to avoid when buying a pair.

The talk takes place on Friday, October 14 at 7.30pm for an 8pm start, at The Memorial Hall, South Lane, Clanfield.

Tickets are £3 on the door for visitors.
