App-y days forvisitors to seethe Mary Rose
The award-winning museum, in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, has just unveiled the app, which includes a host of features to help members of the public get the most out of their visit to see and learn about Henry VIII’s flagship.
The app, available on iOS and Android devices, uses geo-fencing to detect when users are in the dockyard so it can notify them about talks and events taking place at the museum.

‘This app is the perfect way to harness new technologies to help today’s visitors get the most out of their visit.
‘We particularly love the geo-fencing and notification capabilities which will help ensure that no visitor to the Historic Dockyard need miss out on the many and varied events that we have planned at the museum this winter.’
The app also includes features including information about the history of Henry VIII’s flagship, maps and large print versions of museum text. It highlights 16 exhibits chosen by the museum’s experts.

Hide AdUsers can also listen to an audio highlights tour, available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Polish, with more languages due to be added in 2017.
The app, produced by Mobidaze Ltd, is free to download and can be found via maryrose.org/app.
