Bedhampton care home praised in report by CQC

PRAISE has been given to a care home where '˜staff work well together to create a happy atmosphere'.

Health watchdog the Care Quality Commission inspected Belmont Castle Care Home, in Bedhampton, and rated the service as good overall.

The staff, decor of the home and it having an open culture were all seen as positive points by the inspector.

The report, which asks if the service is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led, rated the home, on Portsdown Hill Road, as good for all five.

It said: ‘Staff knew how to meet people’s needs; they were suitably trained and supported. The home had been decorated and accessorised to provide a positive and suitable environment for people living with dementia.

People were cared for with kindness and compassion. Staff knew people well, interacted positively and supported them to build friendships.

‘Staff understood their roles, were motivated, worked well as a team and felt valued by the registered manager.

‘The service had an open and transparent culture.’
