Business park picks its charity of the year

STAFF at a business park will be helping to raise cash for a charity that supports families affected by the death of a baby.

Lakeside North Harbour Portsmouth has voted Sands to be its charity of the year.

Karen Tyrrell, communications manager, said: ‘Stillbirth is not rare and it’s a tragedy that can happen to anyone. According to national statistics, the UK’s stillbirth rate remains unacceptably high.

‘More research is needed to help identify babies at risk and reduce the loss of babies’ lives; so we are proud to be supporting Sands.’

Lakeside will be running a number of events during the year. The first – the Annual Portsmouth Dragon Boat festival – took place on Sunday. The Lakeciders team rowed into third place and raised £200.
