Carol from Emsworth sets up Lovesey Organising to help people declutter, tidy up and find happiness

THERE’S an old saying that a tidy house makes for a tidy mind – and one woman from Emsworth is determined to help people declutter.

Carol Lovesey, from Emsworth, loves organising so much that she has turned her passion into a business helping people to tidy their homes.

Carol started Lovesey Organising after she helped her mother-in-law downsize her house – and she realised there may be a gap in the market to help others do the same.

She said: ‘I really enjoyed the process and I feel it’s really important to have that support when downsizing or moving house.’

Now, not only does Carol help older people who are looking to downsize or move out of their houses, she has also found her services being taken up by a wide range of people who are simply looking to declutter and take control of their lives by getting rid of what they don’t need.

She said: ‘It’s not about making someone have a minimalist home with just a white sofa and nothing else, it’s about making someone’s home work for them and not being overwhelmed by everything that’s in there.

‘It should be a sanctuary from the outside world and if it’s full of stuff that you don’t need, it won’t be. It’s about helping people to move along and let go of stuff to move forward with their lives.

‘It’s about getting ready to let go of the things you don’t need anymore, resulting in a clear space and a relaxed and happy mind.’

Carol was made redundant from her service delivery manager job in September 2019, then broke a vertebrae in her back in October and had to take some time out to recover.

She then decided she would take the plunge and finally launched the business in January, after around two years of prior planning and taking courses to help her learn the importance of organising and decluttering.

She is now a registered member of the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers (APDO).

And Carol has not let Covid-19 put her out of business, instead she took her services online and throughout lockdown she offered help with decluttering and organising through video conferencing site Zoom.

She also says that since starting back up, she’s seen a surge of people needing to reorganise their homes to set up home offices, as well as people needing help to organise paperwork and set up filing systems.

Carol can also act as a virtual PA, organising daily, personal or family life, helping with household diaries and booking appointments.
