Cash injection of £18m is finally secured for Horndean

A BOOST of almost £18m for a village has been secured.

After months of negotiations, developers have signed a legal agreement with East Hampshire District Council for £17.75m to be handed over as part of a 700-home estate being built east of Horndean.

The new facilities to be built include a £5m 1.5-form primary school, which will have capacity to increase to two-form entry when demand increases.

A £2.4m community building will be built, as well as more than £5m of highway improvements, including new cycle routes and £3m on new pedestrian crossings at junction 2 of the A3(M). A 60-bed care home is also planned.

Councillor Guy Shepherd, who represents the southern parishes for the cabinet, said: ‘The land east of Horndean Section 106 has been signed which secures this development in the forward plan.’
