ADF Milking, in Slindon, said it has been supporting the UK dairy industry during the Covid-19 pandemic by delivering and installing their innovative product in milking parlours across Hampshire and West Sussex.

James Duke, who set up ADF Milking in 2008, said: ‘We know how important it is to support our British farmers, especially at times like this.

‘We are fortunate enough to work in a sector that has managed to survive the first Covid-19 lockdown, and we will continue to support our customers and dealers during the second lockdown.’

The business has developed an award-winning automatic dipping and flushing system that helps to keep dairy cows healthier by reducing cases of mastitis.

It prevents the spread of bacteria from cow to cow, which in turn reduces the amount of antibiotics used.

In addition, the ADF System reduces the number of people required in the milking parlour to milk cows at any one time – allowing farmers to easily abide by the Covid-19 social distancing guidelines.

ADF Milking as a business was able to adapt swiftly to the pandemic and with employee safety as a priority, arrangements were put in place so that all office-based employees could work from home before the first lockdown started.

James said that customer service continued uninterrupted and rigorous hygiene and social distancing procedures allowed its warehouse team to continue working to fulfil deliveries to customers.

‘It certainly hasn’t been business as usual,’ he said.

‘But we are grateful that our company has been able to function due to our excellent staff members and the good relationships we have with our suppliers and dealers.’

The company exports its product overseas to around 30 countries, which is supporting the dairy farming industry on an international level.

Earlier this year, ADF Milking was recognised by the Queen for its growth in trading overseas when it was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2020: International Trade.

This is the second Queen’s Award that it has achieved, previously winning a Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2013.

During the summer, the company also produced its own protective face masks, as well as some unique floor and wall stickers suitable for milking parlours and other areas of the farm.
