HMS Warrior power fault that closed the attraction to be fixed during the national lockdown

A POWER fault that closed HMS Warrior at the weekend is to be fixed while the Historic Dockyard is closed over the next four weeks due to the national lockdown.

The dockyard was closed on Saturday morning following an inspection from the onsite electrician who uncovered a power supply problem on the jetty.

A team from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were called as a precautionary measure and closed access to the dockyard.

HMS Warrior was reopened on Monday – but a team will need to work throughout the lockdown to solve the electrical problem.

A spokeswoman from the National Museum of the Royal Navy said: ‘The issue is around a fault in the main power supply to her, which will be fully resolved over the next month whilst the Dockyard is closed to the public.’

HMS Warrior was constructed as Britain’s first iron-hulled battleship in 1860, and now serves as a floating museum.
