Is Whatsapp down? Social media messaging app leaves users unable to connect

The messaging app, owned by Facebook parent company Meta, is telling thousands of people that it is ‘connecting’, with a spinning circle leaving them unable to receive or send messages.

The website Down Detector has recorded tens of thousands of reports alone in the last hour, with users across the UK saying that they cannot get service.

So far Whatsapp has not said anything about the outage.
