Serial entrepreneur Jordan Boon, who also runs a catering firm and T-shirt printing company, came up with the innovative camping box design in his back garden.

Now he has officially launched his new business CamperCars selling his creation, a removable camping system that converts a large number of vehicles, including vans and SUVS, into micro campers.

The wooden CamperCar system box sits across the back seats and boot of a car and can be converted into a kitchen with cooking and cleaning space, as well as a bed.

The interior can also be used for storage, with space to organise shopping and as it weighs just 23kg can be easily removed by one person.

Jordan wanted to offer people an easy, hassle-free and cheaper alternative to campervans for people who are looking to ‘staycation’ this summer.

He said: ‘My family and I love spending time outdoors and are keen travellers, however with the hassle that comes with campervanning, it’s sometimes not quite worth it for an overnight stop, then there are the costs involved, such as MoTs and servicing.

‘You’ve got the ability to park wherever you want without being restricted to check-in and check-out times and rules and regulations of camping sites.

‘It gives you the freedom to visit beauty spots and explore new places without the worries of the difficulties that come with campervanning.’

Jordan created the first product in his back garden before posting on Facebook, receiving lots of positive feedback and deciding to take the venture a step further.

The dad-of-two is hoping that the products will make travelling easier and more fun and will result in less contact between people, but more time spent outside.

He said: ‘A lot more people are opting for staycations now. It makes it easier for people to go and visit somewhere, be more spontaneous with their days out and not have to worry about getting a hotel. It could potentially reduce the amount of people they are coming into contact with, too.

‘It’s also good for people who want to visit family who live further away, as they can now stay overnight in the car and remain socially-distanced from the people they’re visiting the whole time.’

Jordan and his five-year-old son, George, are planning to take their CamperCar on the road once lockdown restrictions are lifted, sharing their adventure on social media.

The full system retails at £625 and can be purchased at campercars.co.uk
