Portsmouth and Waterlooville Domino's introduce new in-car collection method

Domino’s Pizza has wheeled out a new car collection service in Portsmouth and Waterlooville, which allows customers to park outside and have their pizzas brought out to them.

It comes after the scheme was trialled in Gosport last year.

The service uses location technology to track the customer’s journey from their sofa to the store.

Now, ahead of a national rollout, it will be used at the stores in Fratton Road, Portsmouth and London Road in Waterlooville.

Clive West, Domino's group digital director, said: ‘We are delighted to launch in-car collection in our Portsmouth South and Waterlooville stores.

‘Feedback from stores already offering the service has been fantastic, so I’m sure our latest innovation will be a hit with local customers. We’re always looking to make things easy as possible for our customers and knowing convenience and speed are key, in-car collection offers another safe collection method.

‘Simply order online or via the app and let us brave the cold to deliver you piping hot pizza to your car.’

Once food has been ordered online, customers can pick the in-car collection option, and will get a text 10 minutes before their food is ready.

Customers then agree to share their location via their mobile phone, and arrive at the designated parking area.

Area manager Zargos Jaff added: ‘Collection is hugely popular in our store and we know local pizza fans love a great deal. By offering in-car collection, we’re giving our customers even more options to get their hands on a Domino’s pizza.

‘In these uncertain times we know how important it is to be able to rely on your local store to cook up delicious food when you’re craving it the most.

‘We’re proud to be able to go a step further and make life that little bit easier by bringing your order directly to your car when you come to collect your food.’

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in March, Domino’s Pizza has implemented contact-free delivery and extra hygiene training.
