Koop + Kraft launched its Dine Out for a Good Cause scheme in July, collecting £1 from selected food and drink items of the menu to add to a pot that will now be donated to four charities.

Diners voted on a poll at the restaurant and cocktail bar’s Facebook page to determine how the final total would be split between the charities.

The scheme raised £1,005, with £522 being donated to Naomi House and Jacksplace, £328 being donated to Solent Mind, £110 being donated to Portsmouth Hospitals Charity and £50 being donated to HIVE Portsmouth.

Founder George Purnell said: ‘These four charities are an invaluable part of our local community, from helping vulnerable children to providing invaluable mental health support to those who need it most. This initiative was our way of saying thank you to these charities for all the amazing work they’re doing.

‘We heard some really heart-warming stories as to why people voted for a specific charity, which made us feel even more strongly about donating profits. Myself and the team were really touched when we read through some of them and it made us realise how important it was to do something like this.

‘We can’t thank those who got involved and voted enough. We can’t wait to do something similar soon and continue giving back.’

The restaurant, in London Road, also previously donated hundreds of meals to staff at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham back in the first lockdown and gave away free healthy meal preps via its sister company, Prepped, to teachers working throughout the pandemic.
