Discount offer for slow internet

BUSINESSES are being offered a discounted satellite broadband connection if they are unable to obtain an affordable broadband service of at least 2Mbps.

The scheme forms part of the government’s commitment to make sure every home and business in the UK can access speeds of at least 2Mbps.

The rollout of superfast broadband is on track to cover 95 per cent of the UK by 2017, and has already reached an extra 79,000 homes and businesses in Hampshire.

Leader of Hampshire County Council Roy Perry said: ‘We are working with our partners to ensure that as many of Hampshire’s residents as possible have access to superfast connections.

‘Significant challenges remain in the harder-to-reach areas where proportionately more expensive infrastructure is needed for a smaller number of properties.

‘We’d strongly encourage those communities to take up this offer of discounted satellite broadband.’
