Enterprise academy gets £4,000 grant from fund

Unloc Enterprise Academy, based at Portsmouth College, applied for cash to launch its enterprise roadshow that will deliver bespoke enterprise days across 10 schools in deprived communities across the south west.

The Changemaker Fund, which was launched at the end of last year as part of an innovative collaboration between Santander and a rewards-based crowdfunding platform, is designed to help social enterprises, charities and community groups deliver projects that improve communities.

Sue Douthwaite, managing director of Santander Business Banking, said: ‘We’re thrilled to support Unloc to encourage the next generation of young people to dare to invent, innovate, create and be entrepreneurial. Young entrepreneurs are an important contributor to the UK economy and we look forward to seeing how the academy develops.’

Hayden Taylor, managing director at Unloc, said: ‘We hope to educate and inspire disadvantaged students to see the potential in entrepreneurship and self-employment.’
