TWO creative Portsmouth entrepreneurs are expanding their start-up businesses with the help of the city council's enterprise centres.

Needlework expert and mum of four Kim Treagust started her online business KLT Charting from her Paulsgrove home. Now she is producing and selling so many cross stitch threads and kits, charts and other needlework and craft supplies that she has outgrown her dining room.

Cllr Ben Dowling, cabinet member for economic development, said he hoped Kim and Debbie's new units would continue to help their businesses to grow and thrive.

'˜We'll do whatever we can to help Portsmouth businesses succeed,' Cllr Dowling said.

'˜It's great to welcome these two exciting new businesses to our enterprise centres. It goes to show that you don't have to be a computer programmer or website designer to be self-employed.

'˜There are so many opportunities for businesses in this city and we will continue to help support  entrepreneurs.'

Kim, 39, said: '˜My youngest child isn't yet two-years-old so I'm obviously very busy outside work which has made it even more important to move into my first workplace unit.

'˜The new unit has already made a big difference. The extra space has helped me to expand my range of supplies which has helped me to increase my business base.'
