Factory is given £1.5m upgrade

MANUFACTURER Formaplex has spent £1.5m on two semi-automated paint lines to increase capacity and broaden finishing capabilities at its Voyager Park site in Portsmouth.

This follows a £6m investment in plant and equipment at the site in October.

The company, which started in 2001, has grown into a £45m-turnover business employing more than 400 people, specialising in the manufacture of lightweight composites and thermoplastic components.

Director Russ Hammacott said: ‘We’re a preferred supplier for the design and manufacture of injection mould tooling and plastic components for the UK and Europe’s low-volume automotive industry, including prestige brands and sports cars.

‘With our market share steadily rising, we have grown from strength to strength. The investment in our new facility will ensure we have the additional capacity to continue to provide our services and products to our expanding blue-chip customer base.’
