Network Rail is set to carry out improvement works at Fareham railway station next month.

As part of the upgrades, the station’s forecourt will be resurfaced, access to the station will be improved, a new accessible toilet will be installed on the island platform and the existing toilets will be upgraded.

Engineers will also replace nine sets of points along the line, as well as 240 metres of track.

To carry out the upgrades, the line through Fareham will close from October 22 and re-open on October 31.

A bus replacement service will operate during this time.

Colum Cavanagh, director of route asset management at Network Rail, said: ‘This is a case of short-term disruption which will result in longer-term benefits.’
