Food producers wanted for national competition

FOOD producers are being urged to submit their wares to a food competition.

The delicious. Produce Awards 2017, which are open for entry until March 1, will celebrate Britain’s unsung producers, with the winning products and producers starring in the glossy food magazine’s pages in the October 2017 issue and throughout 2018.

Entries will be judged by Jenny Linford, journalist and author of Food Lovers’ London and Great British Cheeses; Rosalind Rathouse of Cookery School at Little Portland Street, and artisan baker, author and TV presenter Dan Lepard.

There will be eight categories in nine regional heats across the UK, looking for leaders in fishing, farming and animal rearing, as well as artisans making the best products from the raw materials.

Editor Karen Barnes said: ‘We want to celebrate producers and artisans who are committed to quality and heritage. We aim to give a voice to the quiet heroes of the food world – the protectors of provenance and shepherds of sustainability.’
