Are your skills outdated or would you like to add more strings to your bow and fastrack your career?

Solent Partners has successfully secured over £1.2m of funding from the Department for Education (DfE) in order to create Skills Bootcamps for the Solent region, to redress skills shortages

The training programmes are aimed at adults aged 19 and over, offering flexible training to develop new work skills and help to progress careers.

In the Solent, Skills Bootcamps will be delivered by experts in the following industries:

– Digital Marketing by Get Set for Growth

– Maritime Transport and Logistics by South Hampshire College Group

– Care Services by South Hampshire College Group and Isle of Wight College

– Business Skills for Creatives by the University of Portsmouth

– Green Skills by Yuzu

– Catering and Hospitality by Whitehead Ross

Who can apply?

Get in touch if you are an employer who wants to future-proof your workforce or develop existing talent.

Or, if you are self-employed or unemployed – and aged over 19 years - this could help you to look for new opportunities as you update or build new skills.

How long is the course?

Courses last up to 16 weeks and can be classroom based, online or on-the-job.

How much does it cost?

Skills Bootcamps are funded by the Government and are free to those who are unemployed or self-employed.

For those who start the course via their employer, there is a contribution for the employer to make.

Responding to skills shortages

Solent Partners Chair Rachael Randall said: “We are delighted to launch the exciting Skills Bootcamp programme for the benefit of the region. This is a fantastic opportunity which will enable the Solent workforce to flourish, and ultimately support our economic growth.

“These courses have been co-designed with employers to respond to skills shortages in the region and we plan to offer the region’s workforce the right support to thrive in these fast-developing industries.”

She added: “The Skills Bootcamp programme aligns with Solent Partners’ aims to work with local industry to promote the collective prosperity and sustainability of the Solent economy.

Ian Ross, CEO of Whitehead-Ross Education, said: “We are delighted to be working with Solent Partners to support local jobseekers to access local opportunities in hospitality supervision and leadership roles, whilst supporting the skills and recruitment needs of local employers. Over the next six months, we will be supporting 40 jobseekers from across the Solent.”
