Hovertravel, the world’s only scheduled passenger hovercraft service, has been named as an official partner for the sailing extravanganza, which is part of the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup building up to the final races to be staged in Bermuda in 2017.

Loretta Lale, Hovertravel’s commercial and marketing manager said: ‘There is such a long history of ocean racing on the Solent, where we operate.

‘This great sailing spectacle will again showcase Portsmouth and the Solent to a global audience and we are proud to be an official partner.’

Hovertravel is expanding its normal timetable by almost 30 per cent for the special event, which runs from July 21-24.

There will be an extra 42 crossings over the Saturday and Sunday, giving spectators the opportunity to experience both sides of the Solent and the chance to soak up the atmosphere in an unrivalled maritime location.

The America’s Cup action returns to Portsmouth in the summer where there will be fast-paced action on the water and thrills on land, as the teams reach speeds of 40mph just metres away from the spectators on shore.

The best place to watch the action is from the race village in Southsea which offers family friendly features and exciting interactive content focused on the sport of sailing.

Ticket holders can learn all about the America’s Cup including the history, the technology, the teams, the sailors and of course watch the spectacular racing action as the best sailors in the world race on the fastest boats.

Spectators will also enjoy three aerobatic displays, including the Red Arrows, over the three-day event.
