Digi Toolbox in Segensworth, a small company specialising in IT, telecoms and web design, scooped the Employer of The Year award in 2017 at The News-run awards.

The company has been running for more than a decade now but following its success last year has seen growth in profits and expansion of its staff.

The high-profile event attracts hundreds of entries across its 15 categories, ranging from Start-up Business of the Year to Large Business of the Year.

It also recognises inspirational personalities, hard-working apprentices, dedicated teams and passionate retailers, plus more.

Mark Viccars, managing director of Digi Toolbox, told how the awards had taken his business to a new level. He said: ‘It was great to be a finalist at the 2017 awards but to actually win the Employer of the Year award was incredible.

‘Winning has helped us to recruit new staff as well as open the door to new clients.

‘In total we have hired four new members of staff, which has included recruits from rival firms.

‘The awards have shown to people that we are a great place to work.’

He added: ‘The awards have had a massive impact on our business and we are looking forward to entering this year’s awards. We would highly recommend other small businesses looking to make the step up to do the same.’

Tickets are still available for the awards ceremony due to be held next month.

The awards will be announced at a gala black tie dinner held at the Portsmouth Guildhall on Friday, February 23.
