McDonald's has started waiter service at its Cosham restaurant

The company says its eaterie near to the Portsbridge roundabout has undergone a new, exciting transformation following local franchisee Grant Copper’s investment.

A spokesman said: ‘This significant investment demonstrates the ongoing commitment from all McDonald’s franchisees to towns across the UK as part of an extensive restaurant evolution programme. The new features can currently be found at the restaurant in the Pompey Centre in Fratton and will be appearing in more restaurants in the city and the Havant, West Street restaurant a bit later this year.’

‘Customers will be able to order from the new digital kiosks and will now have the option of having their food delivered direct to their table. The restaurant will still offer the option of ordering at the till.

McDonald’s says that following a trial last year in 14 restaurants across England, table service proved very successful and popular with customers. As a result table service will now begin to roll out throughout 2016 to many of the restaurants undergoing digital transformations like the one in Cosham. By the end of this year, over 400 restaurants across the UK will offer table service to their customers.

McDonald’s franchisee Grant Copper, runs 17 restaurants across Portsmouth, West Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, including the one in Cosham.

‘We’re thrilled with the transformation because we’re committed to offering our customers’ more choice and fast service,” he said.

‘Technology has a huge role to play in all walks of life, including our customers’ eating out experience, so the new technology we’ve introduced recognises the way people live their lives today. The addition of table service enables customers to order at the self-order kiosk and then sit down at a designated zone to get served. From mums coming in with their kids, to people having a working lunch, I expect the feedback to be positive.’
