MP meets entrepreneur to discuss business rates

BUSINESS rates was the top item discussed when an MP visited an entrepreneur.

Meon Valley MP George Hollingbery met Ben Warwick, who runs the Warwick Lane antiques market in the village, after he contacted him over proposed rises in rates.

Mr Hollingbery said: ‘I said measures would be implemented to help small businesses.

‘I’m happy to say the chancellor in his budget capped any business rate rise for small traders who have lost business rate relief because of revaluation to £50 a month or £600 a year. This will allow small traders, like the ones in Warwick Lane, certainty they will not be getting big bills.’
