A NEW gin festival is coming to Portsmouth this summer.

Gunwharf Quays has joined up with The Gin Lounge to host a gin festival.

The event will take place at the outlet shopping centre from Friday, September 13 until Sunday, September 15 to celebrate some of the world’s best gins as well as showcase a selection of gins produced in and around the city.

Over the three days, gin-loving festival-goers will be able to enjoy tasting a variety of gins as well as learn how to create their own gin cocktails for friends and family at home.

Professor distils Chernobyl’s first vodka

Alongside the variety of artisan gins on offer to sample, the event will offer interactive workshops and masterclasses hosted by industry experts.

The Gin Lounge cocktail bar will be among the attractions and will be manned by award winning mixologists.

Yvonne Clay, senior marketing manager at Gunwharf Quays, said: ‘Gin has become the must-have drink for many, so hosting the Gin Lounge Festival is a great way to celebrate this.

Visitors will have the opportunity to learn new skills through a series of gin masterclasses, as well as the chance to sample different flavours from local distilleries whilst enjoying our unique waterfront setting.’

The event will run from midday until 8pm on Friday and Saturday and midday to 4pm on Sunday.

Tickets are priced from £5 and guests can enjoy a free gin cocktail on arrival, as well as taking home a souvenir gin glass and festival programme.
