New route links region by air to capital of Bavaria

Bmi regional has now launched its eagerly-awaited Southampton to Munich route.

Jochen Schnadt, chief commercial officer at bmi regional, said: ‘Since we announced the launch of this route we’ve received excellent feedback from corporate and leisure customers with a positive volume of early bookings.

‘This is bmi regional’s first route out of the south east of England so we’re excited to bring our high-quality performance, service and efficiency to a new audience.

‘We already have a very strong route between Bristol and Munich and a number of onward connections from Munich into other European destinations.

‘This route further cements our position as a leading European airline for both business and leisure travellers.’

Connecting to Munich means that passengers can reach more than 200 worldwide destinations thanks to bmi regional’s codeshare agreement with Lufthansa.

Passengers also have the option to check their baggage from the departure point to the final destination.

Dave Lees, managing director of Southampton Airport, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome bmi regional with their new twice-daily jet service to Munich. Scheduled air services to Munich have been requested by businesses in the local region as well as by holiday makers in Germany looking to start their cruises from Southampton.
