Rolec’s new electricity service pedestal will be installed as the first phase of major improvements to the popular marina, which has over 600 berth holders.

The updates are thanks to Dean & Reddyhoff Marinas investing more than £1.5m in Haslar Marina.

Other projects earmarked for improvement include repairing the wavescreen, dredging and major improvements to the washroom facilities.

The first phase of the electrical installation sees the new Rolec Quantum pedestal being fitted to the pontoons from April.

Haslar will be the first marina in the UK to showcase the slim anodised aluminium bollards.

Ben Lippiett, marina manager, said: ‘We are thrilled to be rolling out the Quantum pedestals. They are well built, look superb and, together with the BerthMaster Online software, create a fantastic online solution for our customers to manage their own electricity accounts.

‘We hope customers will use less electricity as a consequence (with obvious environmental benefits) as they will get immediate feedback on usage so can quickly identify power hungry devices on board.’

BerthMaster Online allows owners to turn their power on or off from any web enabled device.

They can also pre-pay securely online having viewed and checked their own consumption since their last payment.

Email updates will advise of a multitude of items, from low credit alerts through to a notification if they have been unplugged.

This new system makes life much easier and more efficient for the berth holder.

Brian and Dawne Dunton have been berth holders at the marina for over 19 years and are in favour of the new technology.

Mr Dunton said: ’Being able to keep an eye on usage from the office, or abroad is an excellent new development.

‘We don’t live that far away, but to have any cuts in supply flagged up instantly has obvious advantages.

‘We love the marina and our berth here, but it will be even better when the washrooms are complete and the Rolec system installed.’
