PROPOSALS for nine flats on a village high street have been rejected.

Developers Crownplex Limited saw their plans for the development in West Street, Portchester blocked by councillors on Fareham Borough Council’s planning committee.

The proposals were divided into five two-bed flats and four one-bed flats.

They were refused by councillors on the basis that the homes would be out of keeping with the character of the street.

Councillor Roger Price, who sits on the council’s planning committee, said: ‘These plans just did not fit with the street’s character.’
