Portsmouth hotel is among the most romantic

WITH just days to go until Valentine's Day, a Southsea hotel has been named one of the most romantic in the country.

The Clarence Hotel in Clarence Road has been voted the fourth most romantic hotel in the UK by travel website TripAdvisor.

Reservations manager Ellie Hogston said the staff were delighted with the award.

Ms Hogston said: ‘The Clarence Hotel are thrilled to receive this award from TripAdvisor thanks to our guests reviewing our boutique hotel so favourably.

‘We believe the hotel has been awarded the honour as it offers an “escape” away from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life.

‘The boutique rooms have quirky features, really popular with couples looking for a break away.

‘The hotel is an oasis of calm and we have a number of rooms with features perfect to help couples relax together.’

The Clarence, which opened eight years ago, became a part of the Mercer Collection group last year.

In first place was the Old Rectory Hotel in Martinhoe in Exmoor.
