Power cuts hit homes in Wickham

Homes began to lose power at lunchtime today, with some reporting cuts in the morning too.

SSE said that approximately 200 homes in nine postcode areas had been affected; PO17 5BD, PO17 5BH, PO17 5BN, PO17 5BP, PO17 5BT, PO17 5BW, PO17 5DP, PO17 5LN and PO17 5LW

A statement from the company said: ‘We apologise for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.

‘Our engineers are on site working to get the power back on as quickly as they can.

‘If you need more information, please call us on 0800 072 7282 and quote reference ‘BE4688’’

It said that power was expected to be restored at by 6pm today.

The fault is believed to have been caused by tree branches that were brought down during high winds.
