Radio One's Annie Mac and Wretch 32 added to star-studded Southsea Victorious Festival line-up

Wretch 32 has been added to the Victorious bill

HIP-HOP and dance music royalty have been added to this summer's star-studded Victorious Festival.

Radio One broadcaster and international DJ Annie Mac will wow crowds on the Castle Stage over the August bank holiday weekend, The News can reveal.

As one of the UK’s most famous DJs, she has played everywhere from stadiums to superclubs across the globe.

And Wretch 32 will delight the crowds with his combination of hip-hop and grime.

The English rapper enjoyed big success in 2011 with his album Black and White, featuring collaborations with megastar Ed Sheeran, Etta Bond and Example. Other additions include newcomers DMA’s, Eliza and The Bear and Luke Sital-Singh.

Public Service Broadcasting are also making a return to play the Southsea Common festival.

Their debut album Inform-Educate-Entertain received widespread critical acclaim and the band are known for combining old public information film samples with live new beats from drums, guitar, banjo and electronics.

Festival director Andy Marsh said: ‘It’s nice to announce some new acts which are slightly varied to the stuff we’ve revealed already.

‘It gives people an opportunity to see something similar to what they’ll see with Mark Ronson on the Sunday.

‘We’ve got some Radio One-friendly stuff and a bit of dance, so it’s a good mix.

‘Public Service Broadcasting are the first band to return to Victorious – they love the venue.’

The news comes after festival bosses revealed a list of stars who will be lighting up the common at the 2016 Victorious, including Oasis legend Noel Gallagher and his band The High Flying Birds, Manic Street Preachers, DJ Mark Ronson, The Levellers, Ash, The Coral, Travis, Wolfmother and Editors.

The Boomtown Rats – led by singer Bob Geldof – will be the first big act of the weekend to perform.

Victorious is on course to welcome 120,000 visitors over August 27 and 28.

Last year’s event attracted 99,658 spectators and brought in £5.8m to the local economy.
