Research looks at most successful start-up sites

PORTSMOUTH has one of the highest business start-up survival rates in the country, according to new research.

An interactive heatmap from cloud VoIP provider Vonage used date from the Office for National Statistics and CompanyCheck.co.uk to look at survival rates of new start-ups between January 2014 and January 2016/

The figures found Winchester was the UK’s most successful place with a 77.6 per cent success rate, and Cardiff was the poorest with 58.9 per cent. The UK national average start-up success rate was 68 per cent, however Portsmouth rated highly with 76.9 per cent.
