Retail outlet centre joins up with America's Cup

The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series will be returning to Portsmouth on July 21 until 24, and Gunwharf Quays will be supporting the event.

Throughout the weekend, visitors to the shopping centre will be able watch the sailing on large screens, while enjoying special offers, dining and entertainment.

Colin Wilding, general manager at Gunwharf Quays, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome back the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series to Portsmouth. The event is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Portsmouth to a global audience.

‘As the only shopping centre in the UK with sailing access, our marina will once again be home to VIP, press and team boats for the duration of the event.

‘Guests will also be able to enjoy our unique waterfront location and we are expecting our bars and restaurants to be extremely popular.’

Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Portsmouth, event director, Leslie Greenhalgh said: ‘We are again delighted to partner with Gunwharf Quays. A large number of our ticket holders visited Gunwharf Quays during last year’s event and their entertainment and shopping offering helped create a unique experience.

‘The reaction to our plans has been hugely positive. One of the changes is that there’ll be no evening entertainment, this is where Gunwharf Quays’ retail, food and entertainment offerings come to the fore.’
