Revised timetable for hovercraft between Southsea and Isle of Wight

THE Hovertravel will operate on a revised timetable this week as work continues on the vessels.

Neil Chapman, managing director, apologised to customers for the delay in the ‘bedding in’ of the new craft Solent Flyer and Island Flyer which he says has taken considerably longer than expected.

He added following a review of the current situation it has been decided to operate a revised timetable for this week.

From today until Friday, the summer timetable will run with the following cancellations:

- from Ryde: 7.30am, 8am, 8.30am, 4pm, 4.30pm, 5pm and 5.30pm.

- from Southsea: 7.45am, 8.15am, 8.45am, 4.15pm, 4.45pm, 5.15pm and 5.45pm.

Mr Chapman said: ‘Many of you have contacted me sharing your complaints and displeasure as to the current situation, all of which is totally appreciated and I have been working with the teams this weekend as to a plan forward.

‘The revised timetable, while inconvenient will allow our company to give confidence as to the service we intend to operate, as well as allowing the time required to work through the maintenance and operational issues.’
