Royal honour is given to medical electronics firm in Petersfield
ITS innovative anti-snoring device and collapsible electronically-controlled baby incubator have won acclaim of the very highest order.
Morgan Innovation and Technology, in Petersfield, which specialises in medical electronics, was given a Queen’s Award for Enterprise – international trade earlier this year.
Nigel Atkinson, Esq, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, visited the company last week to present the award.
A special event was held, and guests were invited such as the Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire, Sir James Scott, East Hampshire District Council chairman Cllr David Ashcroft, council leader Cllr Ferris Cowper and others.
James Roberts, inventor of mOm baby incubator and global winner of the 2014 James Dyson award for innovation, also attended.
Nigel Atkinson Esq, HM Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, said: ‘I am delighted to present this very prestigious award on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen. Such an award should be held in high regard by any recipient as it is for outstanding achievement by a UK business.’
Before the presentation by the Lord Lieutenant, the company’s founder and research director, Howard Clarke, took attendees on a tour of the business.
Guests viewed some of the latest leading-edge products in development such as a new anti-snoring device and mOm, a collapsible, electronically-controlled baby incubator.
Morgan IAT took the opportunity to thank staff, clients and partner organisations for their support over the past five years, at a special celebratory reception in a marquee at its business premises.
Nigel Clarke, CEO of Morgan IAT, added: ‘It’s been a fantastic day and an opportunity to share what is a very special occasion for the Morgan family with everybody who has made this possible.’
The company was told in April that it had won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for the second time. Morgan IAT last won the award in 2011.
On July 14, CEO Nigel Clarke and his wife, Jessica, travelled to Buckingham Palace and were introduced to the Queen at a reception for Queen’s Award winners.
