Another attraction at the market will be a range of art and crafts stalls selling retro art prints, classic French advertising and hand crafted gifts, as well as fashion and accessories.

Councillor Steve Pitt, cabinet member for culture and city development, said: ‘Following the recent success of Southsea Food Festival, we are delighted to bring an authentic French market to Palmerston Road.

‘We hope many people will take the chance to pick up unique gifts and stock up on French food.’

France at Home is a well established team who all belong to the Syndicate or Traders’ Association in Rouen, and the group initiated the very first French market to be held in the UK in 1994, crossing the Channel every week for events ever since.

The market will feature a variety of foods, arts, crafts and more

All the traders have their own regular markets in France but they enjoy coming to England because they always receive such a very warm welcome.

They aim to create an authentic French atmosphere for visitors to enjoy by dressing up their stalls with umbrellas and marquees.

The market will be appearing at various other locations across Hampshire and the south coast throughout the summer.
