Technology key to saving money

New research reveals that people believe technology can play a major role in saving money on heating bills.

A survey by housebuilder Barratt Homes, which is building new homes at its Nursery Fields development in Havant, reveals that almost 50 per cent of people in the south believe that new technology and better controls for their heating would save them money on their energy bills with the majority feeling confident they could control their heating from a smart phone.

Unsurprisingly the idea of using new technology was more popular among younger people with those aged 18-34 years old the keenest to use new technology.

Barratt Homes sales director Michelle Storer said: ‘New homes typically have energy saving features such as the latest insulation, high levels of airtightness and new double glazing.

‘We also use new highly efficient boilers and modern low heat loss cylinders which keep water hotter for longer. People can see how much they could be saving in a new build home by having an energy calculator online.’
