Three firms hope to be pitch perfect for £800k prize

VENTUREFEST South has revealed its final list of 18 innovative businesses who will pitch for a combined total of £9m investment today.

Three Portsmouth-based firms are in with a chance to win the prize at today’s conference for entrepreneurs, innovators and investors, being held at the Guildhall, Winchester.

Tech start-up Transparently, kitesurfing specialists Forty1 Kitesurfing and home health care service Care Quest will all pitch for £800,000 in total at the event.

Transparently, based in Fareham, is a legal tech start-up.

It provides solicitors and barristers with insight into their cases, and individuals with the ability to receive proactive, real-time advice and support.

The team behind the firm will pitch for an investment of £400,000.

Forty1 Kitesurfing, run by James Crook, is currently developing a low profile hydrofoil to improve the experience and accessibility for kitesurfers of all abilities, worldwide.

James will be pitching for an investment of £150,000.

Portchester-based Care Quest provides an online service which matches patients with care providers based on services, location and availability.

The firm will be pitching for £250,000 worth of investment.

The judging panel is looking for the best business concepts and leaders wyho appear to be investment ready.

Chris Allington, chair of Venturefest South, said: ‘Our assessors have had a tough job whittling the list down to just 18. We have worked closely with each of the applicants to help ensure they are investment ready.

‘Those who have made it through are exciting businesses that cover a range of sectors from automotive, health tech and space. I wish them all the best of luck.’
