'˜Unsung IT hero' awarded manager of the year prize

AN '˜Unsung hero' who oversees IT operations at Snows Motor Group has been named Manager of the Year.

The motor retailer, which has sites across the south coast, awarded group IT manager Stuart Truman the ‘Driving Spirit’ award.

The firm praised Stuart for successfully integrating the computer systems of 11 newly acquired businesses in 2017.

A banner of ‘One Team One Vision’ was hung proudly over the company’s annual conference, which was held at the Concorde Club in Eastleigh.

The event was attended by over 130 business professionals.

As well as the coveted award, Stuart also took home £500 worth of holiday vouchers.

Staff from the Portsmouth region who were shortlisted for the Manger of the Year accolade included Michael Maidment, service manager at Snows Toyota Hedge End, Ash Black, parts manager at Snows BMW and MINI Portsmouth and Paul Marsh, sales manager at Snows Toyota Waterlooville,

Group chairman Stephen Snow presented Stuart with the award.

Stephen said: ‘Stuart thoroughly deserves this award.

‘An unsung IT hero, Stuart has worked tirelessly to successfully integrate the computer systems of 11 newly acquired businesses whilst ensuring all the IT runs as smoothly as possible for our 835 members of staff.

‘Overall, we now have 50 businesses across 19 brands, which is pretty impressive when, back in 1962, my late father and our founder Geoff Snow started the business with a £275 loan selling office supplies!’

Stephen praised his staff for their commitment.

He added: ‘Individuals bring their own skills and talents to the table but what really matters is the whole team, all 835 members of our staff working towards a common goal.’
