A day of American origin, Black Friday follows on from their celebration of Thanksgiving, opening the Christmas shopping season.
The day became a mainstream part of UK retail culture back in 2014, and has taken off over the last couple of years. Research form retail association IMRG and SimilarWeb predicts that about £2bn will be spent on Friday alone, with a total of £4bn forecast over the weekend.
However, the discounts can sometimes bring out the worst in people, with riots and fights breaking out in stores across the country.
We asked people whether they thought Black Friday was worth all the hassle that comes with it.
