Worker celebrates 40 years with Wightlink

DEDICATED worker Roy Shawyer is celebrating 40 years at Wightlink.

The purchasing manager joined the Portsmouth-based company in 1977 after leaving the Army.

Roy, from North End, said: ‘We have everything in our stores from paper cups to engines and I have to make sure we don’t run out of anything vital.

‘I’ve enjoyed working for Wightlink because every day is different.’

Roy started at Wightlink as a labourer then an electrician’s mate and carpenter’s mate before moving to the stores. He became purchasing manager in 2008.
