Enterprising staff, students and alumni from the University of Portsmouth were recognised at a special event last month to celebrate the end of the University’s Enterprise Programme.

The Enterprise Programme (TEP) is a nine-week programme to provide participants with the skills, confidence and competencies to enhance their careers or start their own businesses. There was also an opportunity to win £3,000 funding to help towards a business idea.

Marc Lintern, Director of Student Employability and Employment, said: “It was a privilege to be a judge for these awards. It was pleasing to see how much value everybody gained from participating in The Enterprise Programme. There were some very interesting ideas put forward for these awards, including several which didn’t win on this occasion but which have real potential. I look forward to seeing how everyone progresses.”

New podcast series offers advice, lessons and experience for women entrepreneurs

A new podcast series has launched to offer advice, life lessons and richly felt experience for women entrepreneurs.

The ‘Accelerating Women’s Enterprise - Stories from the front line’ podcast features a wide range of business owners, community leaders, charity directors, researchers, mentors, networkers - and entrepreneurs of every kind - all of whom have been involved in the Accelerating Women’s Enterprise (AWE) Project at the University of Portsmouth.

AWE is a multi-partner EU-funded project, which has provided training and mentoring for women on both sides of the English Channel to increase their knowledge and personal skills to start and grow a successful business.

It has supported women through training workshops, face to face advice, mentoring and online learning, all developed specifically for women. Since it started in 2019, it has trained 600 women entrepreneurs and helped over 120 women start businesses.

Each episode will go out weekly on Wednesday at 12 noon from 7 June. You can listen to them on a number of podcast providers including Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music/Audible, Deezer, Audacity, Podcast Page, iHeartRadio, Gaana, Player FM and JioSaavn.
