Highbury College was known for its huge array of vocational and hands-on options from automotive to bricklaying and Portsmouth College for its outstanding A Levels and technology advancements, using iPads in the classroom.

As a result of the merger, City of Portsmouth College is now known as the best of those legacies combined, with so many courses under one roof, all taught by a vibrant teaching staff.

As a college that teaches students with a diverse set of interests and levels of experience, they work closely with you as an individual. They help you reach your potential with the dedicated support of passionate and experienced lecturers and resources to help in all areas of your life and learning, with fully equipped student hubs.

The student hubs are available at all four campuses and are for every student to access. They offer friendly advice with resources covering finances, careers support and UCAS advice, health and wellbeing support, travel and learning and admission support.

The college strives to be a modern and inclusive institution, with up to date and relevant resources on offer, assisting students to complete their learning with personalised support, and whilst mitigating outside stresses.

If you are at a crossroads and feel that a typical college course isn’t for you, then perhaps an Apprenticeship or T Level could be the answer.

At COPC they are very proud of robust links with industry and local businesses, allowing students on these course types to gain first-hand experience and skills during work experience placements or employment, helping to set their CV apart from the rest.

There are Apprenticeships covering 11 subject areas and even more T Levels, allowing students to learn in the classroom alongside practical study, in a subject they love.

In 2023, the college celebrated some outstanding results for both A Level and Level 3 vocational courses. The students did the college proud with a 99% vocational pass rate, an overall 96.6% Level 3 pass rate and 357 students received A-B grades! The students collecting results on the day said that they couldn’t have done it without the support from their amazing lecturers and the inclusive and friendly atmosphere of the college, making their college journey a fun and exciting one.
