CONSTRUCTION has started at Havant and South Downs College to create state of the art facilities for three new courses.

With the new T Level qualification set to start in September, the college is set to be the first in Hampshire to offer all three new qualifications with courses in construction, digital and education & childcare.

The new T Level courses are set to offer students a more vocational pathway than traditional A Levels and as such the college needs to develop facilities for more practical learning.

College principal, Mike Gaston, said: ‘We are creating a dedicated space for each T Level which will reflect the industry into which students are preparing for entry.

‘The new development will allow us to accommodate specialist equipment and enable our teaching staff to deliver high quality learning via digital technologies.’

While doubts remain over a September return, the college believe it is ‘imperative’ to have the new facilities ready.
