Mrs Hannah Cooper, the head of personal social and health education (PSHE) has picked a representative from Year 4 and 5 to help spread this message of safety.

Leah Bonner, the school’s Year 5 JRSO, said: ‘As a JRSO basically we will be doing assemblies about how to keep yourself safe on the road with the help of Mrs Cooper.

‘We will be making some posters to display around the school as well as going to a different school to learn how to keep ourselves safe on the road. I am really looking forward to my new role.’

Ratudina Rokotaloko, our Year 4 JRSO, added: ‘We will be keeping our environment safe and as a JRSO we will be in charge of helping to keep people safe on the road outside of our school.’

Mrs Cooper, who leads the JRSOs, commented: ‘The term, JRSO, stands for Junior Road Safety Officer and their role is about teaching the children at our school to be safe on the roads or in a car with their parents.

‘They also help the children know all about how to be safe on the roads if they are cycling by encouraging them to wear a helmet and other protective clothing so they are seen by cars. Throughout the year they will be doing some competitions to help spread the word of safety when we are out and about so that our children are kept safe at all times.’
