The pirates arrr here!
CARDBOARD swords, eye-patches and the Jolly Roger were the order of the day on a pirate-themed visit to Action Stations at Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard.
About 90 youngsters from Fairfield Infant School in Havant donned pirate costumes for the excursion to the activity centre.
The school’s Year 1 leader Rachel Arnold said the pupils had enjoyed themselves.
She said: ‘They absolutely loved it.
‘We spent an hour learning how to build a boat – it’s waterproof and it sails.
‘They also used a climbing wall and took part in other activities.’
Mrs Arnold said fictional pirates such as Captain Hook and Jack Sparrow had a timeless appeal.
She said: ‘I think pirates appeal to both girls and boys. They really like the action and adventure of them, and I think they like learning how to speak like a pirate as well.’
