Remembrance Day 2018: Pupils show '˜incredible respect' for armed forces' sacrifices

Woodcot Primary School in Tukes Avenue, Bridgemary, has spent the past week preparing to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

Pupils have been hard at work handcrafting poppies for their school memorial, as well as learning war songs for a remembrance service.

Working together, students have created a weeping window poppy exhibition, which is on the school front for all to see.

Deputy headteacher Michaela Beetlestone said: '˜In their classes, the children have made poppy wreaths which were laid during the remembrance service we held.

'˜We have also made Woodcot rocks '“ with each child making one that is poppy-related, before hiding it around the area for people to find.

'˜The children have all shown incredible respect for the past, observing the two-minute silence beautifully and really engaging with everything we've done on remembrance this week.

'˜People have gone above and beyond to honour the sacrifice of these brave heroes; everyone has done their bit and it has been incredibly heartwarming.'
