Set to the moving musical backdrop of Thank You by Dido, the two children also displayed posters of rainbows which have become the symbol of hope and better times ahead during the pandemic.

Jessica, from Waterlooville, said: ‘We wanted to do something to make a difference and to say thank you to those people who are putting themselves in danger to help others. Doctors and nurses in hospitals are having to work so hard and hopefully this video will help to cheer them up and show them they have our full support.’

The sister and brother approached mum, Gemma Venn, 39, to ask what they could do to help after the family went into lockdown following the school closures

Brother, Bertie, age four, also joined in the video to thank key workers.

Gemma, who works as a primary school teacher, said: ‘Jessica likes to perform and asked if she could do a dance to show her support for the key workers. Both she and Bertie drew the rainbows and we then made the video.

‘Apart from staying indoors, there is very little any family can do. What we can do is to help encourage those who are saving the lives of others. It’s important that people show key workers they have our support as this positive reinforcement will keep them going.’

Gemma does feel that one of the positives to come out of this ‘terrible situation’ is ‘seeing communities coming together’.

‘Hopefully when we come out of the other side then we will continue to see the value of caring for each other,’ she said.
