Twelve students aged 11-15 will travel to France to join youngsters from Maurepas in France, Henstedt-Ulzberg in Germany and Wierzchowo, a small village in Poland,to celebrate the twinning of these four communities.

The students from Cowplain currently perform in the school band Bandter and have previously played at local events.

This is a fantastic opportunity for them to experience performing in another country and to a completely new audience.

The town of Cowplain has been formally twinned with Maurepas since 1995 and Henstedt-Ulzberg since 2012. Cowplain hosted Europe Day in 2012 and students and representatives from France and Germany have visited the school in recent years.

The students will attend the opening ceremony next month and then take part in sporting events.

Following rehearsals at the venue, the students will perform at La Salle des Fetes in Maurepas, Yvelines in the Ile de France region. Sue Dobbyn, head of music at Cowplain, said: ‘We are very honoured to be asked to represent Waterlooville at the Europe Day celebrations in Maurepas, and are looking forward to performing and immersing ourselves in the French culture.
